Chafer Injection Systems
Pioneered by Chafer Machinery, this technique of fertilizer placement is regarded as the most efficient fertilizer application system available for the potato crop. Whether planting in rows or beds, the system places fertilizer exactly where it is most needed by the crop. Simple to fit and easy to operate it enables both planting and fertilizer application to be completed in a single operation.
The Chafer liquid fertilizer placement system incorporates a 1000l, 1500l or 2000l front mounted tank and pump assembly combined with planter mounted injection tines. A self-priming centrifugal pump enables high application rates on planters with any number of rows, together fast filling of the tank.
Application Rate Regulation - Constant pressure regulation and a tine blockage warning system ensure highly accurate and even flow rates through each tine. A warning system operates for blocked tines. The very latest automatic application rate control systems give highly accurate applications at a range of speeds in all terrains.
Versatility - With tine mounting kits for popular planters and adjustable tine positions, the Chafer fertilizer placement kit is simple to fit and easy to use with any planter/tractor combination including PTO driven planters. Tines are mounted directly on larger planters with fitting kits available. Any potato system can be catered for by placing fertilizer at all combinations of row width, bed and depth of planting.
Placement Accuracy
True placement of fertilizer into the rooting zone, has a positive effect on yield and quality. Placing fertilizer in a concentrated band into the moist soil zone alongside and underneath the mother tuber, at the same time as planting, ensures that nutrients are available as soon as they are required.
Crop Development - As the crop develops, the fertilizer is also present in the root zone, ensuring a better supply of nutrients. This can encourage stronger rooting, with the added advantages of better nutrient utilisation from a greater depth of soil and improved tolerance of drought.
